Preparing site plans for utility applications

What makes a good site plan for a utility connection application, and how to avoid common issues.

Why plans matter

Clear plans let network operators understand your site quickly and quote accurately. Poor or ambiguous plans are a common cause of delay and repeated questions.

A good site location plan

  • Shows the site boundary clearly.
  • Includes a recognisable scale and north point.
  • Shows access points and surrounding roads.
  • Is legible when printed at a sensible size.

A good layout plan

  • Shows plots, units or buildings clearly numbered.
  • Indicates intended positions for supplies or plant rooms where known.
  • Distinguishes phases on larger developments.

Formats

PDF is usually the safest format to share. CAD (DWG) is helpful for detailed design. Keep file sizes reasonable and name files clearly.

Please note. Requirements can vary by network operator; we'll flag anything specific your application needs.
